The Council of Advisors of the Arts Horizons LeRoy Neiman Art Center and the Arts Horizons Board of Directors welcomed guests to the Second Annual a fundraiser, Art Splash 2013, Larger Than Life at the LeRoy Neiman Art Center (LNAC) in Central Harlem. The evening featured an awards ceremony, exhibition, buffet dinner, cocktails and a silent auction celebrated the legacy of the famed artist LeRoy Neiman and his vision to provide arts education to the young children of Harlem. Photo Flash: Nahum Tschacbasov Retrospective Opens at National Arts Club by BWW News Desk - June 08, 2013
Southampton art dealer Arthur T. Kalaher presented a fascinating survey of the works of Russian-born painter and poet, Nahum Tschacbasov at the National Arts Club covering his work from the 1930s until his death in 1984. This is the first important survey of his works in almost three decades. The exhibition which runs until June 16 is presented in conjunction with the 11th Annual Russian Heritage month sponsored by the Russian American Foundation in cooperation with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the New York Post. The Russian American Foundation is pleased to present The Nomad, Memory of the Future, the largest exhibition in the United States of works by Dashi Namdakov, a renowned Buryat artist and sculptor. Curated by Marina Kovalyov, the exhibition will be on view June 16-30, 2013 at the National Arts Club and will feature over 60 pieces including bronze sculptures, graphic art and jewelry. The exhibition will showcase the artist's extraordinary craftsmanship and highly original style, which blends visual art traditions and techniques of the East and the West. It will examine punk's impact on high fashion from the movement's birth in the early 1970s through its continuing influence today. Featuring approximately one hundred designs for men and women, the exhibition will include original punk garments and recent, directional fashion to illustrate how haute couture and ready-to-wear borrow punk's visual symbols. My dear friend, Michelle Black, and I hopped in a car last week and ventured down to Asheville, North Carolina to spend a couple of nights camping in the mountains. We made our trip with the intent of planning a simple workshop back home in Ohio and, instead, returned with boundless inspiration and the bones of an incredible retreat to help share some of the same discoveries we've made in our own journeys. One-hundred-seven works by 88 artists include paintings in oils, acrylics and watercolors, as well as sculptures and mixed media collages. The second edition of Art Wynwood, the Wynwood Art District's highly anticipated international contemporary art fair hosted by Art Miami LLC, closed its doors Monday, Feb. 18, following sales by more than 90 percent of participating galleries and more than 27,500 visitors - an increase of more than 4,000 from last year's inaugural fair. Once again the five-day fair was held during President's Day Weekend coinciding with the Yacht & Brokerage Show.
