The Freddy Awards to be Featured in Lehigh Valley Exhibitions

The State Theatre Center for the Arts today announced that as part of the 10 year anniversary celebration, The FREDDY© Awards will be highlighted at both ArtQuest and The Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley during June and July.

“Most Valuable Players,” the nationally acclaimed documentary chronicling the inspired journey of three high school theater troupes to The FREDDY© Awards will be shown at the Levitt Pavilion as part of the SteelStacks Summer Family Movie Series on Wednesday, June 13 at 8PM. Admission is free.

Produced in 2008 by Canyon Back Films in conjunction with The State Theatre Center for the Arts, “Most Valuable Players,” provides a behind-the-scenes look into The FREDDY© Awards, a Tony Award-like program that recognizes excellence in Lehigh Valley high school musical theatre.
The film has won numerous awards, including The Documentary Channel Audience Award at the 2011 Nashville Film Festival and aired last September on OWN as part of the Oprah Winfrey documentary series.

THE FREDDY AWARDS: A Photo Retrospectivet 2003-2012, highlighting the last ten years of the FREDDY© Awards will be on display in the Community Gallery at the Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley from June 15 through July 8, 2012.

The exhibition contains over 75 photographs that will take you behind-the-scenes, give you a glimpse of rehearsals and transport you to on stage performances all of which display the passion and excitement that have gone into the past ten years of the program.
