LMCC's Arts Center at Governors Island serves as a "model home," a great example of how LMCC has taken donated space and transformed it into a multi-purpose working space and gallery for artists. Now in its third year, Building 110: LMCC's Arts Center at Governors Island has served more than 100 visual artists and 25 performing artists and arts groups-in-residence, and welcomed nearly 30,000 visitors. Each summer, LMCC hosts three open studio weekends coinciding with the River To River Festival and the opening and closing weekends of Governors Island's public season. More than 2,600 guests visited Building 110: LMCC's Arts Center during the most recent Open Studio Weekend, July 14–15, 2012.

LMCC is deeply committed to the relationship between art, culture, and quality of life, and has a 40-year history of nurturing the arts in order to develop and sustain Lower Manhattan. In 2010, LMCC transformed Building 110 on Governors Island, formerly a historic Army warehouse on the Island' s northern shore, into a multi-use arts facility for the development and presentation of new work in the performing and visual arts. Building 110: LMCC's Arts Center at Governors Island houses 20 visual artist studios, two rehearsal studios and an exhibition space, all with sweeping views of the Lower Manhattan skyline and New York Harbor. Artists-in-residence are offered a retreat-style experience just minutes from the City and audiences gain unique access to New York City's newest cultural destination.
