Cornish's Mary Alice Cooley Collection Featured in Downtown Seattle

Cornish's Mary Alice Cooley Collection Featured in Downtown Seattle

Selections from Cornish's Mary Alice Cooley Collection are currently featured in downtown Seattle, near the Seattle Art Museum. Equity Residential has graciously offered the use of several empty storefront windows to display artwork by Cornish students and alumni. 20 prints are currently on display on Western Avenue, between University and Seneca Streets (near the Harbor Steps). The Cooley Collection prints will be featured through January 2013.

The selections include works by Neal Bashor, Morgen Bell, Ben Beres, Sarah Brooking, Chris Condra, Chris Drew, Nick Etre, Gene Fleury, Hailey M. Gaiser, Mary LaMorte, Celeste Marble, Jeffry Mitchell, Jazz-minh Moore, Molly Norris, Jamisen Ogg, Tatijana Pavicevic, Dennis Raines, John Ruszel, and Dianna H. Winterbauer.
The Mary Alice Cooley Print Collection contains more than 200 original prints, accumulated over 20 years, and shows the quality and diversity of work produced by students at Cornish College of the Arts. The collection is named for the late Mary Alice Cooley, a former print art student and a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts. Inspired by her interest in art and by her dauntless courage, the Richard Cooley family and friends established a memorial fund in her name, which has been used to support, catalog, and archive this collection.

Selected collection images are available at www.cornish.edu/exhibitions/cooley_collection.
Kathleen Rabel and John Overton, Print Art faculty, select a specific work of merit for the collection and the student is invited to contribute the print to the collection. This growing collection is integral to the Print Art curriculum for study and research and works from this collection are available to museums, schools and arts organizations for exhibition.
