Animazing Gallery Presents Kirk Reinert Paintings, Opens 9/22

Animazing-Gallery-Presents-Kirk-Reinert-Paintings-20010101

Kirk Reinert, a master in the genres of fantasy, horror, and science fiction, will debut a new collection of original fine art at Animazing Gallery of SoHo this September. The exhibition & sale, entitled Hooch, Cooch & Scootching, sheds unique light on the drama and life of the brothels, parlors, and speakeasies of early 20th century New Orleans. Fifteen original paintings will be on display and for sale.

RSVP is required for the artist's reception and exhibition unveiling from 6-9PM on September 22nd, 2011. Animazing Gallery is located at 54 Greene Street (at Broome). The exhibition is free and open to the public seven days a week; Monday-Saturday 10-7, Sunday 11-6.

"I love to capture the wildly unreasonable, unbelievably strange, illogical, or ludicrous...give it a pulse, and make it truly believable." - Kirk Reinert
ABOUT THE ARTIST | Kirk Reinert established his own studio in 1981 after a career in commercials and illustration. He created more than 200 book covers, including Clive Barker novels and a series for Conan The Barbarian. His conceptual designs have been used for both major motion pictures and album covers. He has been invited to exhibit numerous paintings at the Society of Illustrators Museum of American Illustration, in New York City, and focuses primarily on studio art.

ABOUT IDA THE SPIDER | "This artwork shows Kirk's sense of humor, his sensitivity to beauty and strangeness. In fact, this is an exquisite juxtaposition of beauty and strangeness." -AVIVA Magazine, Tokyo, Japan.

The portrait of a fascinating character who became the inspiration for the exhibition "Hooch, Cooch, and Scootching..." is now a limited edition graphic. 'Ida' was originally painted for an album cover for The Five Points Band, and was also published in a book created by The Society of Illustrator's entitled, 'Spectrum 14' The best of Contemporary Fantasy Art. She was exhibited in 2009 at the Society of Illustrators Museum of American Illustration.

Reinert's frequent inspirations are tangible in this work; figures such as Cab Calloway, Josephine Baker, Gloria Swanson in 'Sunset Boulevard', John W Waterhouse, Edward Robert Hughs, Maxfield Parrish, Vaudville, the absurdness of Society, exploitation of human desire and sexuality, human entertainment in general, and irony.

ABOUT ANIMAZING GALLERY | Since 1984, Animazing Gallery has showcased a unique collection of original and limited edition works, that indulge the senses and emotions with color, playfulness and beauty. Click here for more information about Animazing (NYC & France).
